1. Spring of South Korea
There are four seasons in Korea. (spring, summer, fall, winter)
When cold winter is over and warm spring comes, people go out to enjoy spring. I also went to Gwangyang Maehwa Festival to face spring.
2. Place and duration of the festival
The Gwangyang Plum Blossom Festival is held around Maehwa Village in Hongsang-ri, where Plum Blossom blooms. You can enjoy the beautiful plum blossom scenery only when you go there during the blooming season.
Usually, the festival is held around mid-March when flowers are in full bloom, but schedule of festival is depending on the temperature change every year, so I recommend to check on website first and visit. Even if it's not during the festival, if you visit between mid-March and early April, you can enjoy the beautiful plum blossoms.
3. Description of festival
If you go up to Maehwa Village, you can see Jangdokdae Square first as below photo. Jangdokdae is a potery where sauces are stored such as soybean paste and red pepper paste. There is a road behind Jangdokdae, you can take a walk in a small mountain full of plum blossoms. And also you can take a picture with the beatiful scenery. I believe it would be a great experience for you.
