Yeosu Odongdo (Odong Island)

 
 
 

The camellia flowers in front of the photo zone are so beautiful. Above the photo zone, there is a Korean sign that means, I love only you forever.

 
 
 
 
It is said that Odong Island got its name because it resembles a paulownia leaf when viewed from a distance. And it is a representative tourist destination in Yeosu, which is also famous as Dongbaek Island because of the dense camellia trees all over the island.
 
 
 
 

The scenery on the way to the top of Odong Island is beautiful.

 
 
 
 
There are three ways to enter Odong Island. I recommend taking the Dongbaek Train when entering the island and walking when leaving the island. If you are tired after touring Odong Island, you can take the Dongbaek Train when leaving the island, too. :)

 

 

 

1. Walking
Walk the path along the sea.
 
 
2. Bike
At the entrance of Dongbaekseom Island, there are companies that rent bicycles.
 
 
3. Camellia Train
Buy a ticket at the Dongbaek Train Ticket Office at the entrance of Dongbaek Island and board the train at the designated time. The one-way fare is 1,000 won.
 
 
 
 

If you take the Dongbaek Train for about 10 minutes, you will arrive at the central square of Odong Island.

 

 

 
When you enter the island, there are trails that go up to the top of Odong Island next to the main road toward the central square. Walking along the path with green trees, camellia flowers and the sea will make you feel refreshed.
 
 
 
 
 

The scenery of the forest and the sea makes you feel at ease.

 

 

 

 

Odong Island is located right near Jasan Station of the Yeosu Marine Cable Car, so it would be nice to refer to it when planning your trip. If you go to Yeosu, be sure to stop by. :)
